Turkmenbashi Town Hosts International Expert Forum
OREANDA-NEWS. December 3, 2009. The international expert forum on the role of information and communications technologies, science and planning to improve the quality of education continues its work in the Avaza national tourism zone on the Caspian Sea shore.
The participants presented and discussed the reports focused on the aspects of the introduction of latest technologies and scientific advances in the process of education in the conditions of the emerging global information society during six conference sessions of the were presented and discussed presentations on the introduction.
The Turkmen specialists including the specialists of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Mejlis, the institutions affiliated with the Academy of Sciences, the Higher Attestation Committee, the State Statistics Committee, the National Institute of Education, the National Institute of Strategic Planning and Economic Development, university and school teachers, the representatives Central Council of Magtymguly Youth Organization made the presentations on the basic trends in and the legal framework of the education reform initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The international projects implemented in Turkmenistan by the partners from the European countries and the United States, in particular the Virtual Silk Road project that had contributed to establishing the multimedia research and education network, using widely information and communications technologies (ICT) in the learning process and developing interactive telemedicine in the country.
The lively expert dialogue focused on the issues of further development of international cooperation in the spheres of education and science, the role of information and communications technologies in general and vocational education, basic and applied research.
The experts of the UNESCO Institute for Statistics made the presentation on the experience of different countries in planning and fostering research and education. The reports on the development of information infrastructure of the educational and research institutions (telecommunications and development of educational information infrastructure, information security, information management and the use of the international practices in the learning process at schools and universities through using advanced multimedia learning technologies.
The participants of the roundtable that took place in the afternoon discussed the potential of information and communications technologies to further improve the process of education and development of information and communication technologies for the benefit of global progress.
