Russia to Increase Possibilities of Optical-Electronic Complex "Okno"
OREANDA-NEWS. November 10, 2009. The program of opto-electronic complex "Okno" located in Tajikistan is developed in order to improve the means of space monitoring system. "As part of this program until 2012 it is planned to install and train to work several other telescopes, to replace the television detection equipment and computational resources for modern analogues. All this will control the entire range of heights of the orbits of space objects, and the possibilities of data processing will increase by about 50 %", - said the Commander of the Space Force Major-General Oleg Ostapenko.
Evaluating the prospects for the development of national space monitoring system the Commander said that "... now the work is begun to create in the next few years the new optical, radio and radar specialised space controls to significantly increase the information capacity of the system."
