Azerbaijan Opened New Thermal Power Station
OREANDA-NEWS. September 18, 2009. Ceremony of opening of the 105 MW thermal power station “Shahdagh” has been conducted today in Guba district with participation of the country’s President Ilham Aliyev.
Azerenerji (Azerbaijan national electric operator) press service reports that the station consists of 12 plants with capacity by 8.7 MW each. At primary stage station ‘s capacity will be 50 MW and then it will be increased up to 100 MW. Station’s efficiency factor is 46%. A 14 km gas pipeline was laid to ensure gas supply for the station. The latter will supply gas for summer & winter tourism complex Shahdagh, the Guba and Gusar districts of Azerbaijan.
Construction of the station was conducted since April 2008 by company Azenco. Electric equipment was delivered by company ABB and power transmission units by Finland’s Wartsila. The station will generate 700 million kWh of power a year.
Station’s fuel consumption on generation of 1 kWh of electricity will be 0.23 cu m of gas or 267 g of conventional fuel. Station’s staff composes 120 people.
