Turkmenistan – EU: Expands Partnership for Vocational Education

The forum organized by the European Training Foundation (ETF) of the European Commission in collaboration with the EU Project Europa House in Turkmenistan under support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan brought together the leading specialists of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy and Development, the Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of Construction as well as the teachers of the vocational education institutions, the representatives of the Union of Manufacturers and Entrepreneurs and the Union of Economists of Turkmenistan. The ETF specialists were invited as experts to the forum.
Those speaking at the opening ceremony noted that training of highly qualified personnel, specialists of a new formation was an essential condition of successful implementation of the education reform initiated by the Turkmen leader. Vocational education and training played a key role in this process. To promote modernization of vocational technical training the relevant joint projects are developed in the country in accordance with the agreement between the Turkmen Government and European Training Foundation. The major objectives of the project aimed at ensuring sustainable social and economic development of the country are to identify the priorities for improvement of vocational education through analyzing the existing education system of Turkmenistan.
The ETF experts made presentations on the aspects of development and adoption of the techniques of reform planning and implementation. The presentations on the projects on labour market, vocational education and training in the ETF partner countries were made during the seminar.
The Turkmen specialists made presentations on the social and economic aspects of the education policy, labour market and public resources in Turkmenistan.
