OREANDA-NEWS. September 10, 2009. The Science and Education in the Epoch of Great Revival International Exhibition was opened in the Turkmen capital. The organizers of this large-scale forum initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov are the Ministry of Education, the Academy of Sciences, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan. The exposition arranged at the Exhibition Centre illustrates intense interest shown by international community in our country, which is resolutely advancing along the path of fundamental progressive reforms. That is vividly evidenced by the profiles of the forum participants including the renowned companies and firms from many countries of the world. These include the world’s computer and interactive equipment producers and the leading distributors and providers. The companies, which have been operating in the Turkmen market for many years, as well as potential partners, who are keenly interested in establishing business contacts on a long-term basis, showcase their potential and offer to cooperate.

The cabinet ministers, the high-ranking officials and specialists of the Mejlis, ministries and departments, leading public organisations, the chancellors of the universities, scientists, educational and cultural workers, the heads of the diplomatic missions accredited to Turkmenistan and numerous foreign guests attended the opening ceremony.

The welcoming statement of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was presented during the ceremony. The Turkmen leader heartily congratulated the participants on opening the international forum, wished every success in their work and expressed belief that the exhibition in Ashgabat would promote further development of international cooperation in the sphere of science and education.

Introducing the international standards in the national education system Turkmenistan establishes close humanitarian cooperation with the UN, the European Union, the leading research and educational centres across the world. The practical results of this collaboration include a variety of the projects implemented within the framework of the international programmes such as Tempus, TACIS, DAAD, InfoTuk, active exchange of specialists and students, seminars and scientific conferences conducted in the country on a regular basis. School teachers and university professors attend the training courses in Great Britain, Germany, Israel, Spain, China, Malaysia, Russia and other countries. Thousands of Turkmen young people study at the prestigious higher schools in Europe and the United States, master different professions. Furthermore, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the branch of I. M. Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas were opened in Turkmenistan. A number of the new universities will be opened in the country in the near future.

The exposition presented by the Ministry of Education is an evidence of the success of the President’s education reform. The exposition includes the displays of the higher education institutions, secondary schools and preschool institutions.

The exposition showcasing advanced computer, multimedia and interactive technologies and modern learning aids that are widely applied in the educational process is of particular interest.

The achievements gained by Turkmen scientists in various branches of science and the prospects for development of Turkmen science are presented in the expositions of the research institutes, ministries and departments, in particular the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Nature Protection. The displays present the priority trends in the national science reforms aimed at guaranteeing an access to scientific and technological advances to the country that underlies the Turkmen leader’s policy of reforms.

The well-known companies from China, Finland, Turkey, Israel, Russia, the United Arab Emirates present their achievements, proposals and innovations in the sphere of computer, multimedia and information technologies, printing industry and telecommunications, manufacture and supply of school, laboratory and sports equipment in the spacious pavilions of the Exhibition Centre. The firms from neighbouring Uzbekistan are widely represented at the Exhibition.

In the afternoon the Science and Education in the Epoch of Great Revival in World Scientific and Education System International Conference was opened in the conference hall of the Exhibition Center. The well-known foreign scientists and experts from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Austria, Georgia, Mongolia, Vietnam, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and many other countries took part in the conference. It brought together the specialists of the ministries and departments, the public organisations – the members of the Galkynysh National Movement, the research institutes, the university teachers and students, experts of the international organisations accredited to Ashgabat. The reports focused on the achievements, prospects and plans for development of Turkmen education and science as well as the opportunities for developing close and mutually advantageous international cooperation in these spheres.
