Azerbaijan and Serbia Agreed about Reciprocal Visits
OREANDA-NEWS. June 23, 2009. Azerbaijan’s and Serbia’s Foreign Ministers Elmar Mammadyarov and Vuk Jeremic met today in Baku.
Vuk Jeremic said after the talks that the two countries’ positions are the same concerning many issues. The sides do not have open questions, the relations are cloudless.
“We need to sign a big number of documents, which I will do in September in New York (within UN General Assembly),” Vuk Jeremic noted.
Both countries’ ministries have been already charged to prepare the documents.
“The rest of the documents will be signed during forthcoming high-level reciprocal visits. We intend to cooperate for all the issues at the international arena, especially in the field of conflicts,” Vuk Jeremic said.
Elmar Mammadyarov speaking about Kosovo and Karabakh conflicts, underlined that the sides confirmed the necessity to solve those based on the international law within territorial integrity, respect of sovereignty and inviolability of the internationally recognized borders.
“We came to conclusion that our countries’ borders should stay within the bounds they were by the moment of our entering the UN,” Mammadyarov emphasized.
He also added that at the negotiations the sides exchanged views regarding settlement of Kosovo and Nagorno-Karabakh conflicts.
Mammadyarov said the parties discussed regional matters and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbian Ministries of Foreign Affairs, economic cooperation and possibility to hold a business forum. As regards cultural cooperation, according to Mammadyarov, both ministers agreed to organise various joint events in order for the two countries to get familiar with each other’s cultures.
