OREANDA-NEWS. April 2, 2009. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed the welcoming statement to participants of the II International Festival of the Turkmen of the World – Turkmen Land – Beautified Country.

“Dear brothers, you, as the fate has willed, living in different parts of the world and carefully preserving the dignity in spite of the centuries passed and presenting the national culture of the Turkmen people, their traditions and religion to the world I would like to say, “Welcome to your historical homeland! Dear brothers, you should know that the doors of the Fatherland will be always wide open for you!

“I believe that in the epoch of New Revival and great reforms the international festival will more enhance unshakable unity, solidarity and national integrity of the Turkmen people, who have made a worthy contribution to development of universal culture and science during 5,000 years.”

The Turkmen families and folk groups arrived from Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, the Russian Federation and five regions of our country to take part in the international festival. Living in the eight winged yurts during several days they will reproduce the ancestors’ customs, festivities and celebrations in detail

Highly appreciating the work of the Humanitarian Association of the Turkmen of the World to establish and maintain close contacts amongst the Turkmen residing in different countries worldwide the Turkmen leader expressed belief that in future the Humanitarian Association would establish closer and more versatile contacts with the Turkmen people residing in different countries and tell our foreign brothers about the life of modern Turkmenistan.

“There is no greater happiness for an individual than knowing that he has the Fatherland which he is bound with the spiritual threads,” the welcoming statement says in particular. “All of you can be rightfully proud of being a Turkmen, you deserve a worthy life. I would like to congratulate you cordially on opening the II International Festival of the Turkmen of the World – Turkmen Land – Beautified Country which will become a noteworthy event in the spiritual and cultural life of independent neutral Turkmenistan, adorn our land and demonstrate unshakable fraternity, unity and solidarity of our people to the world!”
