International Conference in Gomel to Discuss Nikolai Gogol’s Heritage
OREANDA-NEWS. March 25, 2009. International scientific conference “Christian humanism and its traditions in Slavonic culture” timed to the 200 anniversary of the birth of Nikolai Gogol will be held in Gomel on March 26, informed head of the Russian and world literature department of the Frantsysk Skaryna Gomel State University.
The conference has been organized by the Frantsysk Skaryna Gomel State University, the Society of Cyril of Turov and the Gomel Slavonic Library. Taking part in the forum will be scientists from Belarus, Ukraine and Russia, school professors and students.
According to Ivan Afanasiev, more than 70 reports will be presented at the conference. The participants of the forum intend to discuss Gogol’s heritage in the context of the modern Slavonic traditions, Christian traditions in the Slavonic culture and other issues. Materials and reports of the conference are expected to be published.
