Cultural and Business Centre Created in Village of Voknavolok
OREANDA-NEWS. On 23 March 2009 was announced, that presentation of results of the Byelomorsk Bridge – Workshops, Tourism, Culture project took place in the village of Voknavolok of Kostomuksha urban district. According to the project, reconstruction of old school was held there, cultural and business centre was created, including weaver's and joiner's workshops, a classroom, a village museum, a conference hall and rooms for meetings of creative teams. The project was implemented within the European Union program Neighbourliness. Euroregion – Karelia, with ?180 thousand support of the European Union. The project was coordinated by the Ministry of Economic Development of the republic. The Ministry has also monitored the project implementation.
At all stages of implementation the project was supported by the Head of Karelia Sergey Katanandov and the Governor of Oulu Eino Siuruainen.
During presentation of results of the Byelomorsk Bridge - Workshops, Tourism, Culture project experts of the Ministry of Economic Development of the RK have noted that further it is planned to create a tourist center, a gymnasium, and an Internet-cafe in school of the village of Voknavolok. At present within the scope of activity of the center there has been created 6 new workplaces, and further 4 more people will get jobs there.
From the Karelian party the project partners were the Ministry of Education of the RK, administration of Kostomuksha, from the Finnish party – the Ministry of Public Education of Finland, Suomussalmi commune, Juminkeko Foundation, the Museum of Kainuu and Haapavesi educational center.
