OREANDA-NEWS. March 6, 2009. In Turkmenabat President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov chaired a sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers to consider the priority issues of the current national policy. The sitting was held upon concluding the ceremony of inaugurating a new architectural complex. The high-ranking military and law enforcement officials and velayat khyakims attended the sitting.

Addressing the sitting Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused on the significance of the events which took place in the ancient land of Mary and Lebap during these days noting that they reflected the results of Turkmenistan’s policy with the ultimate goal embodied in the principle “a state for the people”. The Turkmen leader said that the Government would spare no effort to guarantee the worthy life to the people, create the conditions conducive to their peaceful constructive labour, happy future of children. The Turkmen leader said that the newly constructed facilities – schools, kindergartens, medical centres supplied with state-of-the-art equipment meeting the international standards were to serve this goal.

Touching upon the coming spring holidays – International Women’s Day and Spring Holiday, Health Day celebrated on April 7 the President demanded the celebrations should be organized and held in a proper manner. In this context Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that physical and moral health of the Turkmen people and especially younger generation was of particular concern to the Government.

The President said that the high-ranking officials of the military and law enforcement agencies should pay close attention to physical training of the military personnel, encourage young soldiers to go in for sports and physical culture. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that the military and law enforcement agencies officers should set a good example for Turkmen youth and demonstrate the advantages of the healthy lifestyle by personal example.

The President said that today the stadiums and sports facilities were under construction throughout the country and this practice aimed at propagating the healthy lifestyle, involving Turkmen youth in the sport and physical culture movement would be further developed. The President said that the modern sanatoriums would be built in each region of the country and instructed the Dashoguz Velayat Khyakim to draft the proposals on construction of a health centre in the northern region.

Touching upon the celebrations of Revival, Unity and Magtymguly’s Poetry Day Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed the relevant high-ranking officials to draft the list of the facilities to be put into operation on the eve of this nationwide holiday which would celebrated in the atmosphere of common spiritual and patriotic upheaval.

In conclusion the Turkmen leader focused on the significance of the Elders’ Council the agenda of which included the important issues of Turkmenistan’s social and economic development, in particular the aspects of the fundamental agricultural reform. Noting that these issues were of paramount importance for the further progress of the country and welfare of the Turkmen people the President wished all those present success in their work.
