Kazakhstan Government Proposes Celebration of Nauryz during Three Days
OREANDA-NEWS. On 16 February 2009 was announced, that Kazakhstan government proposes celebration of state holiday Nauryz during three days. The corresponding amendments in the law “about holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan" elaborated by the government were passed to parliament mazhilis of the state, informed press-service of this chamber.
According to the press-service message the government “proposes celebration of the state holiday “Nauryz-meyramy” during three days from March 21 up to March 23, instead of one day March 22 as today.”
To make these amendments come to force first of all they must be approved by the deputies of mazhilis and senate, and then by the Head of the state.
In Kazakhstan Nauryz became the official holiday with the sovereignty and independence (1991).
Nauryz or Navruz is celebrated by the eastern people from the times immemorial. If to translate it from Farsi than “nau” means “new, and “ruz” means “day”. This holiday is the symbol of awakening, renewal of nature, beginning of the New Year. The core of Nauryz is the unity of the person and nature. Nauryz is celebrated during the period of the vernal equinox when the day is equal to the night. From this time the days become longer, and the nights shorter.
