OREANDA-NEWS. On 26 January 2009 was announced, that intense schedule of the trip to Olonets, as usual, from the early morning to the late evening, included a number of official events and meetings. However, apparently, it becomes a rule, that first of all Sergey Katanandov meets with ordinary people, those who live and work in remote places. This time the first to meet with Sergey Katanandov in Olonets region were farmers in the village of Lemozero. "When in Moscow or in Petrozavodsk we plan something, it seems to us that it will be good for everyone, that we do it right. And when we talk about the same things with the people, it often appears that many decisions demand serious improvements," - Head of the Republic has explained his position.

In the village of Lemozero there operated a large and stable farm in which a few neighbours united. They specialize on potato raising, and, of course, there are other traditional kinds of farming, in particular, produce meat and milk. They grow excellent potatoes. It is offered to citizens of Petrozavodsk, for example, in the Sigma hypermarket where not all agricultural producers can get with their goods. Subsequently, Head of the Republic has even held the farmers as an example to heads of large agricultural productions who complained of unprofitableness of potato: if people raise and sell it and receive profit, - it means it is possible...

Farmers have shared their worries with Sergey Katanandov. It became impossible to receive timber for economic and construction needs. For land surveying state bodies charge farmers such increadible sums, that even oligarches would be horrified. In the agricultural market imported products which quality is a question dominates instead of Karelian. Head of the Republic has promised to solve the question of land surveying, and as for timber, the most serious corrective amendments of this settled practice are required, as he said. "It is has come to the point of absurdity: people living in the wood can neither prepare fire wood for themselves, nor build a shed! - Sergey Katanandov has told. - we shall reconsider this situation" .

The state helped and will help the countryside - Sergey Katanandov has repeated this thesis at the meeting with heads of agricultural farms of the republic which he has lead in Ilyinskoye. However, to the management of state farms Sergey Katanandov talked far more strictly. He has emphasized, that financial assistance of the state to agriculture is not god-send: it will not proceed forever and is intended to enable farms to get strong on their feet.

- What sense does it make to pay money to enterprises, withdrawing it from other important tasks if parameters worsen and production declines? We'd rather distribute this money among the countrymen and let them do nothing, that will be easier and cheaper! - Head of the Republic considers. - Production preservation and growth, preservation of workplaces, wages, disregard any crises are tasks to complete, as nobody discharges you of your tasks.

This day Head of the Republic also has visited reconstructed building of Olonets regional hospital which sonn will become the branch of V.Baranov Republican hospital. The on-going reconstruction of the Cathedral of the Smolensk icon of the Mother of God in Olonets has also drawn his attention. After reconstruction the church will become one of the most large and beautiful in the republic.

This fall the town of Olonets is going to celebrate its 360 anniversary which was discussed at the exit session of the Council of Representatives of Karelians, Vepsians and Finns which Sergey Katanandov has held in Olonets. On results of the session, from the Head of the Republic Olonets has received both the order to create a steering committee to prepare to celebrate this event, and a new decision to allocate 25 million roubles to the town in addition on preparatory and celebratory actions.

Working trip of the Head of the Republic concluded with the large meeting with administration of the region, chiefs of settlements, heads of bodies of the government, enterprises and establishments of the region. Perforce, matters of the conversation concerned the crisis issues: surviving through hard times, steps necessary to make to rescue enterprises, preservation of workplaces, execution of social programs. Addressing to heads of regions, Sergey Katanandov said:

- State of affairs in the republic is not a tragedy, although complicated, crisis sould not be underestimated. Depth of the crisis phenomena in illustrated by the fact that electricity consumption in Karelia today went 25% down, and the volume of transportations is 40% down. Problems with filling the budget lie beyond. It does not mean, that we shall cut on social programs and obligations. However, investment money fail. Therefore, I call all of you, firstly, to give due weight to financial implications and spend money only on the most necessary things. Secondly, to revise the property carefully - maybe, sell unnecessary buildings, constructions, other property, also look for other ways of earning funds. And, thirdly, to address immediately to our anti-recessionary commissions if any problems occur. On financial and credit problems - to the commission of the Minister of Finance Mr Kolesov, and on all other crisis issues - to the commission which I lead. Today these commissions are delegated vast authorities, together we shall solve your problems promptly.

Needless to say, that this statement of S.Katanandov from the Olonets agenda is addressed not only to heads of Olonets region - it should be heard in all town and regions of the republic. The crisis is one for all, come out of we will have all together.
