As a leading researcher at Moscow State University named after Lomonosov, molecular biologist, virologist Maxim Skulachev said in an interview on the Moscow 24 TV channel, the main reason for the increase in the number of new cases in Russia was the violation by citizens of the protective measures recommended by the authorities to combat the spread of coronavirus.

He explained that, in his opinion, the increase in the incidence of COVID-19 means that people do not comply with any restrictive measures and live normal lives. So, according to the virologist, such figures are quite expected and predictable.

At the same time, the doctor is sure that poor statistics due to an increase in morbidity are not a reason for panic. The specialist is convinced that it is impossible to judge the incidence trend by one day, because the numbers of the number of infected per day vary greatly. At the same time, he agrees that if you look at the trend, then no decrease in the incidence of coronavirus is clearly visible. The scientist believes that the growth can be judged after assessing the further development of the situation. However, Maxim Skulachev admits that it is too early to talk about it.

The specialist once again urges Russians to think about safety and not leave home unnecessarily. He believes that high numbers are another reason to limit social contacts and protect health.
