The WHO Explained the Difference Between Coronavirus and Influenza
OREANDA-NEWS. Experts from the World Health Organization told what is the difference between coronavirus and influenza diseases, and in what way the symptoms of these ailments differ. In specialists' opinion, they do have similar symptoms, but when infected with COVID-19, there is often a loss of taste and smell, as well as shortness of breath and a temperature over 38.
However, the symptoms of these two diseases are often similar. So, those infected with both the flu and the coronavirus have a runny nose, sore throat, fever and fatigue. In severe cases of coronavirus, patients have shortness of breath, loss of appetite, constant pain or pressure in the chest, temperature above 38 degrees, and confusion.
Medical specialists remind that with such symptoms it is necessary to urgently seek medical help, and not self-medicate. Only a doctor can make the correct diagnosis and prescribe competent treatment.
Experts emphasize that in some cases it is imperative to consult a doctor, even if the symptoms of the disease do not cause great inconvenience. Even with mild symptoms of COVID-19, people with chronic diseases, the elderly, children under five and pregnant women should go to doctors.
