OREANDA-NEWS The launch of the biological spacecraft "Bion-M" No. 2 can be carried out in March 2025. The postponement of the launch was confirmed by the Director of the Institute of Biomedical Problems (IBMP) Oleg Orlov, Russian Academy of Sciences, reports TASS.

"Now we are preparing for the launch of Bion-M No. 2, which we will fly in March next year," he said at the plenary session of the industry scientific and practical conference "Constellation of Roscosmos: the trajectory of science."

Earlier, Bion-M was planned to be launched on September 1. It will carry 1,500 fruit flies and 75 mice. In addition, they want to send plants and microorganisms into orbit with the help of a satellite. Bion is planned to be placed into a high-latitude orbit to prepare for the further deployment of a promising Russian orbital station.

At the end of May, Rostec announced the creation of the Telenauka module for the Bion-M satellite No. 2. The module, which consists of 25 digital cameras, an animal housing unit, video recording and control equipment, is designed to monitor animals.
