OREANDA-NEWS  In the first four months of this year, shipments of processors from the American company Intel to Russia decreased 15 times in units, from 289 thousand to 20 thousand units, and 12 times in monetary terms. This was told to Kommersant by a source in the electronics market, who refers to statistics from the Federal Customs Service (FCS).

The same situation is observed with AMD chips, Intel's main competitor, whose shipments collapsed to 17 thousand, which is 258 percent less in physical terms than in January-April 2023 (321 percent in monetary terms).

According to the source of the publication, the trend of reducing the supply of chips continues throughout the summer. The FCS did not comment on the information, recalling that the publication of data on foreign trade was temporarily suspended.

The fact of a decrease in the import of chips to Russia was confirmed by a representative of the Russian holding company Fplus, which manufactures electronics and computing equipment. According to him, product payment chains have become more complicated, which has led to a decrease in purchases.

However, a source in the electronics market believes that a large stock of processors has been formed in the country due to the activity of suppliers in recent years, partly the reduction in imports may be explained by the lack of need for chips.
