The Most Accurate Rapid Test for COVID is Being Developed in Russia

OREANDA-NEWS. In Russia, a new rapid test for coronavirus is being developed, which will make it possible to find out in 15 minutes whether a person is sick or not. Rospotrebnadzor specialists are working on the system. The test cycle is scheduled for early 2022.
The system targets two regions of the virus genome. If a mutation occurs in one of them, then due to the fact that the second section remains unchanged, the test system will detect the causative agent of COVID-19, Izvestia reports.
According to Kamil Khafizov, head of the scientific group for the development of new methods for diagnosing human diseases at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, LAMP is a new method that allows you to simultaneously identify two regions of the virus genome. If a mutation occurs in one of them, the second genome may not change at all, so the test system will detect the presence of SARS-CoV-2 with high accuracy. The developers claim that the test will be extremely accurate, since the selected regions, namely fragments of the SARS-CoV-2 polyprotein gene, as well as one of the surface protein genes, do not show high variability.
According to the deputy director for clinical and analytical work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, Professor Natalya Pshenichnaya, after the fourth or fifth day of illness, the likelihood of detecting COVID-19 decreases. If you test within these terms, you can get a negative result.
