OREANDA-NEWS. Symptoms of hyperesthesia, that is, increased sensitivity, when even a slight effect on the body causes severe pain, began to appear in those infected with the new strain of the Omicron coronavirus. Allergist-immunologist Vladimir Bolibok told about this in an interview with URA.RU.
“Patients began to complain about such a symptom with Omicron as hyperesthesia, when the whole body hurts. Moreover, if you touch a person, nothing hurts him, but if you press with your hands, then the skin, muscles, bones - pain is felt everywhere, up to a scream, ”said Vladimir Bolibok.
In an interview with URA.RU, an immunologist, general director of the KEG contract research company, candidate of medical sciences Nikolai Kryuchkov explained that hyperesthesia can develop in a person due to damage to peripheral nerves. “All these things are most likely associated with damage to peripheral nerves, like Guillain-Barré syndrome. That is, inflammation occurs, excitation begins to uncontrollably pass to the body of the neuron and be transmitted to the central nervous system. As a result, a person feels in different parts of the body either numbness, or tingling, or pain, or cold, or something else. I can’t say that this is a characteristic symptom of Omicron, since this has happened before with COVID-19, but it’s all curable. The main thing is to diagnose in time,” he stressed.
