OREANDA-NEWS The first launch of a promising new generation transport vehicle (PTK NP) "Eagle" to the Russian Orbital Station (ROS) will take place in 2028 from the Vostochny cosmodrome, Vladimir Kozhevnikov, chief designer of the ROS, told Interfax.

"The first flight of the PTK immediately with docking to the station (ROS - IF), that is, unmanned, test. The station begins to deploy in 2028 and the PTK is flying to it," Kozhevnikov said on the sidelines of the Army-2023 forum.

The chief designer said that the launch of the ship will be carried out from the Vostochny cosmodrome. In turn, Progress cargo ships will be launched to the ROS from the Baikonur cosmodrome, "with further transfer to Vostochny."

"We have given such proposals. The creation of the PTK in different versions, that is, the PTK-ROS, the so-called, is a ship in which there will be a cargo part. It can be passenger, cargo, passenger, with a platform for large loads," Kozhevnikov said.

"These proposals are not for the first stage of deployment - after 2030," he said.

On July 3, Roscosmos reported that tests of mock-ups of the PTC Eagle return vehicle are planned to be carried out in 2024-2025 at the Vostochny cosmodrome.

The development of the reusable ship "Eagle" is underway in Russia as part of the experimental design work "Federation". The spacecraft is designed to deliver people and cargo to space stations in near-Earth orbit, and is also one of the key elements of the existing concept of lunar exploration.

On April 10, the first deputy head of Roscosmos, Andrei Yelchaninov, said in an interview with Interfax that the project of the Eagle lunar spacecraft will be revised, a new "light" ship will be created on its basis for flights to a promising Russian orbital station.

On December 26, 2022, the executive director of Roscosmos for manned programs, Sergey Krikalev, in an interview with Interfax, said that the flight to the Moon of the Eagle PTK is possible only in conjunction with a superheavy-class launch vehicle.
