OREANDA-NEWS. Deputy Director for Clinical Work, Moscow Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after V.I. G.N. Gabrichevsky Rospotrebnadzor, Doctor of Medical Sciences Tatyana Ruzhentsova told in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta why some people do not get coronavirus.
She noted that after repeated contacts with the infected, some people do not have symptoms of the disease and antibodies, which may indicate that the virus did not reach the mucous membranes due to the fact that they used protective masks and observed social distance or took preventive measures in a timely manner, did not allowing the virus to gain a foothold in the body.
In addition, Ruzhentsova pointed out, a person may first become infected with COVID-19, but not notice it and get asymptomatic or with mild manifestations, later he develops antibodies that for some time protect the body from re-infection.
"Such cases are explained by the good work of the immune system, on the one hand, and a small amount of the virus that got on the mucous membranes, on the other," the expert noted, adding that this is more often observed in vaccinated people and those who use medical masks and do not neglect other recommendations.
Ruzhentsova emphasized that it is possible to reduce the likelihood of developing the disease if immediately after contact rinsing the throat, mouth and rinsing the nose with water or a special solution, however, the immune system does not always work and any stress, lack of sleep, physical overload, lack of any vitamin or trace element can any time to reduce the body's defenses.
Earlier, general practitioner Alexei Khukhrev told which bad habits increase the risk of contracting coronavirus infection.
