OREANDA-NEWS  VK and Yandex, with the participation of Sberbank and Rostelecom, will create a custom mobile OS with support for Android applications. It will be assembled on the basis of the open AOSP platform. Instead of Google services, it will have its own set of regular applications, but it is not yet known what the developers intend to replace YouTube with. Development, according to preliminary forecasts, will take about a year. A consortium of large IT companies will be organized in Russia, which will jointly develop a custom mobile OS, Kommersant writes. The system that these companies will create will be focused on ordinary consumers, and the transition to it from the usual Android and iOS, especially from Android, will be as painless as possible.

The consortium, according to the publication, will include VK holding, which was recently called Mail.ru Group, and the Internet giant Yandex. They will be joined by the telecom operator Rostelecom and Sberbank.

According to the available data, the system will not be developed completely from scratch. Android will be taken as a basis, most likely, its open version of the Android Open Source Project. Hence the ease of switching to it from the usual Android OS – applications will be compatible, and users will not have to look for analogues of the usual utilities if they want to "import".
