OREANDA-NEWS. Scientists from Columbia University and Sun Yat-sen University in China have created a test, that responds to all mutated variants of coronavirus infection. Scientists have made a special HCoV-Peptide chip, that contains three million immune markers. It will «capture» the proteins of all coronaviruses, that can infect humans.

During the research, 29 peptides, that have a high similarity to the coronavirus, were analyzed. As a result, it turned out, that the new chip is 98% sensitive to coronavirus particles. Thus, scientists came to the conclusion, that the new chip will be able to show the presence of coronavirus in the human body.

According to the «Worldometer» website, since the beginning of the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, the infection has been detected in more than 110 million people on the planet. More than 2.4 million people died as a result of the infection. More than 85 million patients have recovered.

Earlier, a new variant of the coronavirus — Fin-796H — was discovered in Finland. This was reported by specialists of the «Vita Laboratoriot Oy» who worked together with scientists from the Institute of Biotechnology of the University of Helsinki. According to the report, Fin-796H has features of both the British and South African variants of the coronavirus. According to Finnish experts, most tests recognize this variant of the virus.
