Scarce Antidepressant "Zoloft" Began to Be Sold on the Darknet in Russia
OREANDA-NEWS The antidepressant "Zoloft", which disappeared from Russian pharmacies, began to be sold on a large darknet market, where drugs and other prohibited goods are offered. The drug is offered for twice the market price.
The correspondent of the publication said that the goods are taken away in the same way as drugs, mainly through "bookmarks". The sellers themselves warn about this in the product description. However, lawyer Sergey Kolosovsky explained that the buyers of "Zoloft" in the darknet, most likely, will not be punished if they get caught.
"If this drug is included in the list of potent substances, then the responsibility is almost like for drugs. Apparently, it has not been entered, so buyers are not in danger," the lawyer concluded.
But the work of the store falls under the administrative article on the illegal sale of goods not intended for free sale. If the drug was transported across the border and not certified, then the sellers may be prosecuted.
One of the buyers said that he was detained because of the purchase of "Zoloft", but then he was released.
Russian pharmacy chains faced supply disruptions and an acute shortage of the antidepressant "Zoloft" in January 2022. According to analysts, the drug was in third place in popularity among drugs for the treatment of depression.
