OREANDA-NEWS During the VIII Eastern Economic Forum, Sberbank, Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) and FESCO Transport Group signed a memorandum of cooperation.
The document was signed by Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Sberbank Management Board, Boris Korobets, Rector of FEFU, and Dmitry Surovets, Vice President for Information Technology at FESCO.
"Taking into account the greatly increased volumes of transportation in the Arctic and the Far East, we face a multifaceted and multitasking problem of the competent organization of this process. And it will not be easy to solve it without artificial intelligence technologies. The signed memorandum creates important prerequisites for concrete work in this direction. I am confident that the digital competencies of Sberbank employees, FEFU students and teachers, and the maximum interest of FESCO will provide synergy for the modernization of Arctic and Far Eastern port structures and improve the quality of cargo transportation management in this area — one of the key for the country," Vedyakhin said.
The parties intend to participate in digitalization and automation based on artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies of operational and production processes in ports and other objects of maritime transport infrastructure in the Far East and the Arctic.
"Thanks to the Priority 2030 program, FEFU has moved to a new model of education, where knowledge acquisition is implemented through project work on orders from the real sector of the economy. We integrate the interests of industrial partners as much as possible into both the educational and scientific and technological spheres of FEFU activity," Korobets stressed.
Dmitry Surovets noted that in recent years FESCO has become one of the industry leaders in introducing digital technologies into production and operational processes.
"We are constantly improving, taking into account the best IT practices in the market and trying to promptly implement them into the work of our companies. The agreement signed today opens up new prospects for FESCO to introduce even more modern solutions based on artificial intelligence and machine learning, which will be worked on by highly qualified IT specialists from FEFU and Sberbank," he said.
