OREANDA-NEWS A special suit for children with cerebral palsy (cerebral palsy) has received an official industrial patent in Russia. As the developer told RIA Novosti, the product takes into account the problems of the musculoskeletal system, motor disorders and neuropsychiatric characteristics of children suffering from this disease.
Cerebral palsy is a broad concept that unites a group of motor disorders that progress against the background of damage to brain structures in the perinatal period. The pathology is characterized by intellectual disorders, mental disorders, gait disorders and movement coordination.
The anatomical structure of a child with cerebral palsy may differ significantly from the structure of a typical child's figure: they may have a curvature of the spine, asymmetry of the shoulders and shoulder blades, changes in the position of the body, an incorrect angle between the shoulder and forearm, and different leg shapes. In this regard, there is a need to design clothes with higher ergonomic characteristics than ordinary household clothes.
The patented costume was developed by specialists of the Institute of Arts of Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University (NGPU) and Novosibirsk Institute of Technology (branch) Kosygin Russian State University. When designing the product, scientists consulted with employees of rehabilitation centers for children with cerebral palsy and doctors of narrow specialties – neurologists, orthopedists, psychiatrists, etc.
"The costume takes into account the morphological features of the body structure of a child with cerebral palsy, promotes physical and psychological comfort, which generally improves the quality of his life," said Olga Kharlova, chief developer, Deputy Director of the Institute of Arts, Professor of the Department of Design and Art Education, Doctor of Technical Sciences. At the same time, she stressed that the patented product is intended for everyday wear, and not for the rehabilitation of such children.
