Russian Government Has Allocated 868 Million Rubles for Arctic Research
OREANDA-NEWS The Russian Government has allocated 868.75 million rubles for the organization and conduct of scientific research "Transarctica-2019", a corresponding order published on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers.
"Select in 2019 Roshydromet from the reserve Fund of the government of the Russian Federation of the budgetary appropriations in the amount of 868750 thousand rubles for the organization and carrying out in 2019 of scientific research "Transarctica-2019", - stated in the document. The project of the expedition "Transarctica-2019" was submitted to the Russian government by the Ministry of Nature, headed by the former Governor of Yamal Dmitry Kobylkin.
According to the reference to the document, the purpose of the research is to restore the integrated scientific research of the Arctic region, improve the system of hydrometeorological safety of marine activities of Russia in the Arctic for the implementation of scientific and practical interests of the state.
It is noted that the funds are intended for comprehensive research and monitoring of the state and pollution of the Arctic using four research and scientific expedition vessels of Roshydromet.
As part of the expedition, it is planned to freeze the scientific expedition vessel "Academician Treshnikov"into the Arctic ice. It is also planned to monitor the state and pollution of the marginal Arctic seas of Russia on the scientific expedition vessel "Mikhail Somov" and the research vessel "Professor Multanovsky".
It is added that the educational process "Floating University" will be organized on Board the research vessel "Professor Molchanov".
