The heat wave that is approaching the center of European Russia will be accompanied by dangerous ultraviolet index readings in the next five to six days, it is necessary to stay in the shade from 10 to 18 hours. This was reported to RIA Novosti by the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center, Roman Vilfand.

"Such a situation in the center of European Russia is rare, but it is on these days that one should beware of the strong sun. Starting from Thursday, Moscow and further south, in all these regions - Smolensk, Kaluga, Ryazan and more southern Tambov, Kursk, Belgorod, Voronezh regions. Everywhere the solar activity index is six or more, this is dangerous ultraviolet light. Since there will be anticyclonic weather in the next 5-6 days, up to Wednesday, this should be borne in mind. Protect yourself from the sun's rays and especially children, "said Wilfand.

He explained that the dangerous sun over such a long period was made possible by the anticyclone and the summer solstice, when the sun's rays travel the shortest path to the earth's surface. The absence of precipitation also contributes to the penetration of ultraviolet radiation; there are no moisture and dust particles in the air that would scatter light.

"From 10 to 18 o'clock - only in the shade and no options," - said Vilfand.
