Pelican De-Energized a Village in the Novosibirsk Region of Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. The wounded pelican collapsed in the yard of one of the residents of the village of Hersonka in the Ubinsky district of the Novosibirsk region and cut off the power line, reports MK in Novosibirsk. The whole village was left without electricity, even the local deputy and the head of the rural settlement arrived at the scene. Why the bird, along with others, did not fly away for the winter in early October is unknown.
The pelican was fixed with a broken wing by a nurse in the emergency room, because the veterinarian surgeon was not on the spot, but after a few hours the bird died anyway. It probably had severe internal injuries.
In general, pelicans are local birds for the Novosibirsk region. One of the species, the curly pelican, is found in summer on the lakes in the Chanovsky district, where it breeds chicks. The curly pelican is the rarest among the family of these birds, it is listed in the Russian Red Book, there are no more than 300 of them in the Novosibirsk region in summer.
