OREANDA-NEWS  Pakistan, as part of the Chinese Chang'e-8 mission, will send a rover of its own design to the south pole of the Moon. This is reported by the publication SpaceNews.

The 35-kilogram rover is designed to study the properties of lunar regolith, radiation and plasma, as well as test new technologies to ensure a sustainable human presence on Earth's natural satellite.

Additionally, the rover will be equipped with European and Chinese scientific instruments.

In June 2024, the publication reported that cooperation between the European Space Agency and China on the Moon could end on the Chang'e-6 program.

In October 2023, TASS reported that Wang Qiong, a specialist at the Lunar Research Program center of the Chinese National Space Administration, speaking at the 74th International Astronautical Congress in Baku, Azerbaijan, expressed China's readiness to deliver foreign spacecraft to the lunar surface as part of the Chang'e-8 mission.

The launch of the mission is possible in 2028.
