OREANDA-NEWS. Animal defenders threaten Russia's security and are a foreign project aimed at "destroying Russians with dogs". This was stated to Chita.ru by Alexander Mikhailov, deputy head of the Regulations and Ethics Commission of the Legislative Assembly of Zabaikalsky Krai. Earlier in the region a seven year old girl was killed by stray dog bites.
"These people [animal defenders] are not just threatening Russia's security, they are undermining it. It is necessary to find out where they get the money for their activities, for lobbying their interests. It seems to me that this is some kind of foreign project aimed at destroying Russians with the help of dogs,"- Mikhailov said.
He thinks that those dog defenders who do not allow killing of stray dogs should be punished by the law and sentenced to be sentenced to the walls.
Mikhailov also pointed out that around 30 thousand roubles is spent to spay and treat dogs in shelters but this does not guarantee that animals will not attack humans.
On January 22 a body of a seven-year-old girl, bearing animal bite marks, was found in the Zabaikalsky Region. According to investigators, the child was attacked by stray dogs. Afterwards local residents staged a public rally at the local administration building.
The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under Part 2 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code (negligence resulting in the death of a person by negligence). Alexander Bastrykin, head of the Investigative Committee, proposed to toughen the legislation and the system of control over the performance of duties "with regard to the treatment of animals" in the regions.
