Medvedev Kicked off Ebola Vaccine Production

OREANDA-NEWS. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev at the Vector State Virology and Biotechnology Research Center in the Novosibirsk Region launched the launch of Ebola vaccine production for the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Ebola virus disease is an acute viral infection that affects humans and certain animal species. The current Ebola outbreak in the Congo began at the end of July 2018. As of October 18, the number of cases in the republic amounted to 3228 people, of which 2157 people died. In October, Medvedev ordered that Rospotrebnadzor be allocated almost 400 million rubles in 2019-2020 to help DRC prevent the outbreak of the virus, funds will also go for vaccination using the Russian vaccine.
The launch of the drug’s production took place in a videoconference mode with the production center of the scientific center - this is where Russian vaccines are created, which are developed by Vektor, and now, according to the government’s order, the synthetic peptide vaccine EpiVakEbola will be produced. Workshop employees reported to the prime minister that the company was ready to produce a vaccine in the amount of 5 thousand doses for delivery to African countries. “Start. A very important task”, said Medvedev, giving a symbolic start to production. He wished success to scientists in the production of vaccines.
