OREANDA-NEWS. The Ministry of Defense of Japan begins the development of a new means of combating North Korean missiles, writes a Japanese news publication. The military intends to disrupt the connection of the missile with the command center after launch and provoke its self-detonation.
According to the publication, all ballistic missiles of the DPRK have a self-detonating system. It provides the ability to destroy a missile that deviates from the course. According to the Japanese military, this system is controlled from the command center using telemetry. If the connection with the rocket at the initial stage of the flight is interrupted, then the rocket self-destructs.
The Ministry of Defense of Japan proposes to create a system of electronic suppression, which could artificially interrupt the connection of the missile with the command center. In addition, the same system could limit the DPRK’s ability to conduct missile test launches, since they would not be able to track the trajectory and place of the missile’s fall after launch.
Equipment development will begin this year, the Japanese military expects to get the result in the next five years. The project cost is 38 billion yen (about $ 35 million). In early January, DPRK leader Kim Jong-un announced that North Korea will demonstrate a “new strategic weapon” in the near future.
