Japan will Start Issuing COVID Passports in Summer
The government is asking other countries to dispencse travelers with documents officially confirming their vaccination status from quarantine or to minimize its period, the government’s sources stated earlier.
Businesses in Japan are calling for the introduction of COVID passports as economic activity resumes in hopes of reviving travel.
The European Union and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations are also introducing vaccination certificates for foreign travelers from their member states.
The certificate, which will be issued by municipalities using central government records, will include the owner's name, date of birth, passport number, date of vaccination, and vaccine manufacturer in Japanese and English.
