OREANDA-NEWS Russian engineers are working on a unique robot that can understand sign language and read lips. This system will be used in supermarkets, banks, MFC and other organizations dealing with customers. 

Employees of the St. Petersburg Institute of Informatics and Automation of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported that they are working to create programs that understand sign language. Also, robots will be able to read lips. Experts create robots that are so lacking in many organizations, because they can easily interact with deaf people. Experts believe that working with clients in many organizations will be much better if new programs are used by them. 

For speech recognition and lip reading, a high-speed camera is used that outputs 200 frames per second.
