OREANDA-NEWS. Immunologist, candidate of medical sciences Nikolai Kryuchkov told Izvestia that a surge in infections with coronavirus BA.2, or “stealth micron”, could occur in Russia in the coming month.

The specialist noted that currently there is a decrease in the incidence rate, but the balance of the contagiousness of the virus and anti-epidemic measures is very fragile, it is easy to break it.

“By the end of spring and the beginning of summer, a safer time will come. And against the background of these factors, there is a complete abolition of anti-epidemiological measures, a low level of vaccination and a leak of collective immunity, ”explained Kryuchkov.

Based on these considerations, the expert suggested that in the coming month, until April 20, a surge in the “stealth omicron” line is very likely. The immunologist emphasized that the increase in the incidence is unlikely to be the same as with the "omicron strain", but nevertheless it will be very noticeable.

In addition, Kryuchkov warned that the evolution of the virus continues, and the development of the BA.3 strain, the potentially more pathogenic Deltacron, and other variants is possible.

Earlier, Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko said that the new variant of COVID-19 "stealth omicron" is able to spread even faster.

Also, infectious disease doctor Yevgeny Timakov said that when infected with a stealth omicron, a person will have symptoms, as with infection with a conventional strain, but in an enhanced version.
