OREANDA-NEWS. Doctors will be able to officially announce the end of the pandemic only after a certain period of observation, said immunologist Nikolai Kryuchkov, candidate of medical sciences. This was reported on the air of radio Sputnik.

In the spring of this year, there has been a decline in the incidence of coronavirus, but this circumstance does not indicate the end of the pandemic in the near future, he said.

Based on the information on the number of new cases of infection received in spring and summer, it is impossible to judge the subsequent dynamics of the spread of the virus, the expert stressed.

“The relatively low incidence during several warm months will not be evidence of the end of the pandemic. It is impossible to judge further dynamics only by the relatively favorable, in terms of viral infections, summer period," Kryuchkov noted.

According to the immunologist, at least one year of observation is needed to draw a conclusion regarding the end of the pandemic and the announcement of the coronavirus as a common seasonal infection.

Earlier it became known that in Russia 2,203 people with coronavirus were hospitalized per day. At the same time, for the first time since January 12 of this year, less than 20 thousand cases of coronavirus were detected per day.
