OREANDA-NEWS. Over the past few months, Huawei has contacted several Russian companies about cooperation, including the Elbrus developer of domestic processors, the creator of the Alt operating system line, as well as the developer of software and information security equipment and to monitor communications . This was told to the Russian media by several sources on the market.

For several months, Huawei has been negotiating with the Elbrus processor developer, a company to set up a joint venture, a top manager of an IT company told the Russian media and a source close to the company confirmed. According to their information, the Chinese are interested in using the Elbrus processor in their equipment, such as servers. However, negotiations are still at an early stage.

“Huawei wants to license Alt operating systems for use on their computers and servers. Negotiations are going on for a couple of months, and, as far as I know, both sides are strongly interested in cooperation”, said one of the newspaper’s interlocutors. According to another, we are talking about licensing the OS for installation on Huawei computers and servers, which are then planned to be sold not only in Russia, but also in Asian markets. The general director of Basalt SPO, Aleksey Smirnov, told the media that the company was interested in working with large international corporations, but declined to comment on the details. A spokesman for Huawei declined to comment.

All interlocutors stressed that Huawei has intensified in the Russian market after unfriendly actions by the United States. In May, the US Department of Commerce announced the blacklisting of Huawei, since the company's operations "are contrary to the interests of US national security". This meant that local companies wouldn't be able to sell technologies to it without obtaining a special export license from the US authorities.
