Gunzburg Told How Long Sputnik V Protects Against Coronavirus
OREANDA-NEWS. A study on the timing of the preservation of cellular immunity to coronavirus after vaccination with Sputnik V will help save a lot of state funds, it is likely that the protection will last for 2 years. This was announced to RIA Novosti by Alexander Gintsburg, director of the Gamaleya Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Russian Ministry of Health.
He said in this regard: "We need to study the lifespan of memory cells, make it an official study, so that later this information can be entered into the registration certificate. This should save a huge amount of state money."
Gunzburg clarified that if it is proved that the Sputnik V vaccine protects for 2-3 years, and foreign vaccines for a much shorter period, then these will be two products of incomparable quality.
"We are very confident that there will definitely be a defense for 2 years," Gunzburg emphasized.
According to him, for the study it is necessary to find out which of the vaccinated last summer had a drop in antibody titers, vaccinate them and check the level of antibodies during the second, third, fifth day. "If their titer jumps to significant values, and this will be so, then they have memory cells. But you need to put an official experience in order to then enter this information into the registration certificate," Gintsburg explained.
