OREANDA-NEWS. Investments of foreign countries in the development of technologies based on artificial intelligence range from $ 1 billion to $ 10 billion per year. This was stated by the head of Sberbank German Gref at a meeting on the development of technologies in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), presenting the president for approval the national strategy for the development of artificial intelligence.

“Artificial intelligence is a big investment, unfortunately. If you look at national strategies, each country actually decided to invest at least $ 1 billion a year. Some countries invest from $ 5 billion to $ 10 billion a year from the state budget this technology", he said. He didn't mention the investments that will be required to implement the strategy in Russia. As previously reported, plans for the development of artificial intelligence in Russia will be allocated to a separate federal project in the framework of the national project "Digital Economy", in connection with which it is also provided for the redistribution of budget funding.


Gref also asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to approve the national strategy for the development of artificial intelligence and assign Moscow the status of an experimental platform. “Two key decisions are being submitted to you - we ask you to approve the national strategy for the development of artificial intelligence by your decision, create an appropriate coordinating body and instruct the Russian government to approve a roadmap for the development of artificial intelligence”, said Gref.

"We need experimental platforms. We would ask you to look, think about a special status for the subject of the federation, for Moscow. So that in Moscow you can experiment with the use of artificial intelligence," he added.
