OREANDA-NEWS. A frequent concomitant disease with COVID-19 caused by the “omicron” strain has become cystitis, an inflammation of the bladder. This was reported to the Ura.ru portal by the chief preventive specialist of the Ural Federal District, Doctor of Medical Sciences Sergey Tokarev.
According to the doctor, more and more people are starting to complain about this inflammation.
“We can assume that this is due to the anatomical and physiological proximity of the urinary tract and intestines. As we already know, COVID-19 often causes disorders in the gastrointestinal tract: coronavirus can persist in the intestines for a long time, which is clinically manifested by abdominal pain and stool disorders. Also, the development of such complications is also possible against the background of weakened immunity due to a viral attack on the body, "explained Tokarev.
The spread of the omicron coronavirus strain has been recorded in all 85 regions of Russia, the operational headquarters for combating the spread of coronavirus told reporters.
"The spread of the Omicron strain is now being recorded in 85 regions of the Russian Federation," the statement said.
