Cotton Buds and Disposable Tableware May Be Banned in Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. In Russia, the use of certain kinds of plastic goods may be prohibited.
Colored plastic, plastic tubes, cotton swabs and disposable tableware may be prohibited in Russia. The corresponding amendments to the legislation are being prepared by the government of the Russian Federation. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko at a plenary session of the Nevsky International Ecological Congress.
She noted that the amendments would prohibit the use of non-recyclable and difficult-to-recover materials.
Earlier, the head of the Russian environmental operator Denis Butsaev stated that the wast majority of all household waste - 94% of it - is brought to landfills. According to the national project "Ecology", by 2030 this persentage has to be decreased by half. He also hopes that the results of the waste reform will be visible already in 2024.
According to her, by 2030, along with the development of a closed-loop industry, providing for the processing of goods after the end of their service life, about 100 thousand new jobs will appear in Russia.
The municipal reform concerning the solid waste management industry was launched шт the country in 2017. As part of the reform, by 2030 separate waste collection will firmly enter the life of Russians. Moreover, strict punishment for violation of disposal rules and bans on the disposal of recyclable waste will be also introduced.
