OREANDA-NEWS. The Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention has published the first 2019-nCoV coronavirus image taken with an electron microscope. It is published on the website of the department. The center said that the experts were able to isolate the strain of the virus for the first time, which allows us to study its structure.
Coronaviruses are so named because their bodies are surrounded by protruding particles that resemble the solar corona. In the image published by the center, these signs are visible.
By Friday, January 24th, 875 cases of the virus-caused pneumonia in China were known. 26 people died. Cases of infection are also recorded in the United States, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. Ten cities in Central China were closed by the authorities. The largest of them is Wuhan, where there was an outbreak of the disease, with a population of 12 million people. The authorities imposed a ban on travel in public transport, limited bus, rail and air services to neighboring cities. Most entertainment facilities have stopped working.
In Russia, so far there has not been a single reliably recorded case of the disease. This week, several passengers arriving from China were urgently hospitalized with suspected viral pneumonia, but the diagnosis wasn't confirmed.
