Center of Russia And the Far East are Covered With Ice
OREANDA-NEWS. On November 19, part of the regions of Russia was seized by natural anomalies that threaten the health, and sometimes the life of drivers and pedestrians. So, now the central regions of the country were covered with an ice crust, which was formed on the ground as a result of freezing rains, not typical for this area. Today, the ice-covered zone will move eastward, threatening the Volga-Vyatka region.
Freezing rain in the center of the country began in the evening of November 18. In addition to Moscow and the Moscow region, he affected the Kaluga, Smolensk, Tula regions. By morning, the cars were covered with ice for the first time this season. Drivers spent 30-40 minutes to completely clear them of ice. The roads and sidewalks resemble a skating rink. Residents complain about slippery sidewalks that are almost impossible to walk on, and drivers need to be as careful as possible on slippery roads.
Not only cars and roads were covered with a glass crust, but also airplanes. Thus, Moscow airports canceled about 30 flights due to freezing rain.
At the opposite end of the country, in the Far East, the situation is even worse. Many drivers in the morning did not even try to get behind the wheel, because the ice layer on the cars reached several centimeters. It was impossible to cope with it with ordinary scrapers.
It was impossible to get to some areas of Vladivostok in the morning - the roads and yards were strewn with trees that had fallen under the weight of ice. Some almost fell on residents who decided to photograph the effects of the freezing rain. The ice also deformed building materials, for example, a concrete slab fell on one of the machines. The driver miraculously survived.
The ice zone will move to the east. So the freezing rains will reach the Volga-Vyatka region by evening. Supercooled precipitation, though of lesser intensity, is not excluded today in the republics of the North Caucasus.
