Being Unemployed is Bad for the Psyche
OREANDA-NEWS. Scientists at the University of Cambridge analyzed data on mental health and employment status of more than 71,000 people 16-64 years for two years at least. It turned out that the transition from the status of "unemployed" (the reason for the lack of employment is not important) to the status of "working person" gave a reduction in the risk of falling into the group of people with the worst mental condition by 30%.
But it turned out that the abundance of work does not strengthen the psyche. Standard 36-40 hours per week is enough. But experts urge to reduce the working week, to arrange a longer weekend in order to reduce the risk of stress due to overtime.
