HOYA Group PENTAX Medical is Invited to UN Meeting
OREANDA-NEWS. HOYA Group PENTAX Medical is invited to the United Nations General Assembly Meeting titled as “Working together across the Public and Private Sectors to Address Antimicrobial Resistance” on September 21st, 2016.
The meeting is an invitation only event at the United Nations focusing on collaboration between the public and private sectors to address AMR (antimicrobial resistance), through improved infection prevention and control, diagnostic testing, surveillance and reporting. In the history of the United Nations, the General Assembly has only held high-level meetings on health issues three times for HIV, Ebola, and chronic diseases like diabetes and obesity. Today’s event is historic as it recognizes the critical importance of intervention to prevent further resistance to these dangerous pathogens.
The background is the worldwide common needs for infection control and antibiotic superbugs. Participants are thought leaders from the World Health Organization (WHO), the Director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institutes of Health, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and The Japan Ministry of Health.
“This is quite an honor for us to be the only one endoscope manufacturer invited and participating in these collaborative discussions about this global challenge” says Dr. Hudson Garrett, Global Chief Clinical Officer, PENTAX Medical. “We are committed to contribute to raise the bar of infection control for patient safety across the continuum of care globally in all markets that we serve.”
