OREANDA-NEWS. A study of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V, conducted by the Argentine Institute of Cordoba, confirmed the high efficacy of the drug against the Brazilian strain of coronavirus, as the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) said.

The report says: "RDIF announces data from a study conducted by the Institute of Virology of the National University of Cordoba and the authorities of Cordoba, which confirm the neutralizing effectiveness of the two-component Russian vaccine Sputnik V against the Brazilian strain of coronavirus, first identified in the city of Manaus, as well as a high immune response in those vaccinated with the drug ".

In particular, the study confirmed that the immunity to coronavirus developed in those vaccinated with "Sputnik V" makes it possible to neutralize the Brazilian strain both in the case of two injections and after the first one.

"99.65% of individuals developed IgG antibodies to coronavirus on the 42nd day after receiving the second injection of the vaccine. 85.5% of individuals developed IgG antibodies to coronavirus on the 14th day after receiving the first injection of Sputnik V, - the results of the study are reported.

RDIF quotes the head of the fund, Kirill Dmitriev: "A study conducted in Argentina confirmed the high effectiveness of the Sputnik V vaccine against new strains of coronavirus. Argentina was the first Latin American country to use Sputnik V to vaccinate the population, and now we see that the use of the drug helps to protect the population not only against known, but also new variants of the virus, including the Brazilian one. At the same time, a strong immune response is formed after the first dose of the vaccine. "
