OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian drug for vaccination against COVID-19 «Sputnik V» is as reliable and effective as a «Kalashnikov» assault rifle. This is the opinion of a leading infectious disease specialist from Austria, Florian Thalhammer. In an interview with «Kronen Zeitung» he called the Russian vaccine simple, reliable and effective.

The infectious disease specialist recalled, that the promising results of research on the Russian drug were published in the authoritative scientific journal «Lancet» and the effectiveness of the drug was 91.6%. The vaccine provides complete protection against severe cases of coronavirus. The use of the «Sputnik V» vaccine has been approved in more than 30 countries.

This drug was developed by specialists of the National Research Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology named after N. F. Gamalei. In August 2020, «Sputnik V» received registration and entered the top three world vaccines in terms of the number of approvals received from state regulators in different countries.

Today, March 4, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen will travel to Israel, where they will discuss the possible joint production of coronavirus vaccines in this country. Both politicians announced that they do not want to rely only on the European Union for the purchase of vaccines.
