American Astronomers Published the Most Detailed Images of the Sun
OREANDA-NEWS. The US National Science Foundation’s ground-based telescope took the most detailed images of the surface of the Sun, in which objects as small as 30 kilometers in size can be seen.
Photos and videos from the telescope show the hot plasma that covers the entire Sun. It rises from the depth of the star to the surface, gets cold and goes down again.
The Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope (DKIST) is located on the Hawaiian island of Maui on the slope of the dormant volcano Haleakala. It is equipped with a four-meter mirror. According to the foundation, it is the largest solar telescope in the world.
The report says that with the help of new data, scientists will be able to study in detail the structure of the Sun and its activity, which can affect satellite communications, the Global Positioning System and cause a power outage on the Earth. In addition, astrophysicists intend to create a detailed image of the solar corona with the help of DKIST.
