OREANDA-NEWS. A team of European experts said that very soon artificial intelligence will follow the volcanoes. The observation process will take place both from space and from underground.

In the framework of the MOUNTS project, researchers trained artificial intelligence to recognize volcanic eruptions from images from space and from ground-based seismic activity sensors. Initially, some experts doubted the effectiveness of using an artificial neural network for this purpose, but after testing it, all doubts disappeared. The machine allows to predict the impending eruption of a volcano and prepare for possible consequences.

Today, artificial intelligence is already watching 18 volcanoes on our planet. Among them are also three volcanoes located on the territory of Russia. The system will notify on time all risks of eruption, the authors of the development are sure.
