OREANDA-NEWS The Ural company "Unmanned Vehicles" has developed a reactive FPV (First person view) kamikaze drone of the K-5 aircraft type. A prototype of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was presented at the Equipment exhibition at VDNH in Moscow. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
"We made the UAV reactive in order to gain speed. Maneuvering capabilities allow you to move at such a speed. In addition, the UAV is equipped with artificial intelligence and computer vision, it works within the framework of thermal signatures and images. In particular, the possibility of adjusting the inertial system will be used in the near future, which will completely eliminate the use of radio channels," the company's stand said.
The developers noted that it will be enough for the drone operator to bring the device to the target area, and the onboard system will independently aim the UAV at a specific target.
The K-5 drone received a turbojet engine, which allows it to reach speeds of up to 400 kilometers per hour, and the cruising speed is 200 kilometers per hour. The device is capable of flying up to 90 kilometers and carrying up to six kilograms of payload. It is noted that all components, with the exception of the engine, are Russian. The drone can be launched from a ground catapult or using a solid-fuel rocket booster.
The developer's representative added that the UAV is being tested. The tests are planned to be completed by the end of 2023 and present a line of serial products in reconnaissance and shock performance.
Earlier, military expert Viktor Litovkin said that the Russian Lancet drone is dangerous for the Armed Forces of Ukraine because of its silent operation.
